FAITH

Although Joel Higgins, M.D., P.C. is a legally incorporated obstetrics and gynecology medical practice, the practice/company is made up of people.  Despite professional and outward social interactions, each of us who work here as well every patient we see and every person who comes through the door of our office must deal with ultimate truth, the physical limits of life on earth, and what happens when we die.

In fact these issues are ultimately much more important than PAP smears, mammograms, yeast infections, infertility or any other medical issue which we face day to day.

In the rush of daily life it is very easy to avoid ethics, morality, and faith issues that can be somewhat uncomfortable to discuss even with those we know.  But, thank God after many mistakes and sins I have begun to open my eyes to the Lord.  I hope that I can begin to share this good news with my friends and patients.  The simple truth, which is foolish in the eyes of the world, is we are all sinners.  There is only one true God.  He sent His only begotten Son to earth to die for our sins and to rise again in fulfillment of the scriptures.  Each one of us one day will have to face these truths, yet each of us also has a choice.  To repent of our sins (turn toward the Lord) and accept the death of the Lord Jesus as payment for our sins or to continue to defer acceptance of the Lord and risk eternal separation from the Lord. Through these simple, yet profound acts we can regain right standing with the Lord.  Without these steps there is no other approach which can bridge the infinitely deep gap of sin that separates us from the Lord and each of us doomed to eternal separation from the Lord (spiritual death).  Once we accept the Lord we can be touched by him daily in the form of His Holy Spirit who can dwell within us.

I am not the Lord.  I am not here to pronounce condemnation on anyone for there beliefs.  I welcome anyone as a patient regardless of there beliefs.  But I do know my above statements to be true and I hope to share the joy of this truth with others.

Joel Higgins, M.D.
